Completely. Every Alicante People Club group costs nothing to join, always. Your number stays private, the chats stay spam-free, and there's no advertising running inside any group.

Can I join more than one group?

Yes, and most people do -- the average member is in three or four groups at once. Swim at Postiguet at dawn, work from a Barrio cafe by day, and still make the Thursday tapas crawl? Join Beach Social, Digital Nomads and Tapas & Foodies and watch all three chats light up.

What's the group size? Won't it be spammy?

We cap every group at 250 people and someone actively moderates each one. The moment a link, a crypto pitch, or an off-topic pile-on shows up, it's deleted and the poster is gone. These chats stay useful because we keep them small enough to police.

I'm only in Alicante for 5 days. Worth joining?

That's the entire reason Short-Stay Visitors exists. Within your first day you'll have a welcome-dinner invite, someone splitting the airport taxi with you, and ten locals arguing over which beach bar you actually need to try.

In Alicante it's not really optional -- padel courts, school pickups, even the pharmacy run on WhatsApp threads. Install it if you're staying more than a few days. Truly can't? Write to us through the contact page and we'll work out another way.

Are these groups safe? Vetted?

Nobody gets added blind. Every new member sends a short intro first -- a photo, first name, hometown, and the group they want -- before a moderator lets them in, and anyone reported for scamming or harassing others is removed on the spot. This is a circle of residents and travellers looking out for each other, not a listings site.

A small crew of longtime Alicante residents and travellers who got tired of watching newcomers struggle to meet people. It began as a single WhatsApp group between friends; today we look after ten. Still no office, no funding, just people who care about this doing it for free.
